A lifelong boater and sailor John Clayman brings essential experience to your buying process. He studied Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering at M.I.T. and understands the nuances of yacht design and construction. He worked with the late great Ted Hood at Little Harbor first in the design office and eventually as General Manager. He and Ted helped develop and refine Selene Ocean Trawlers when they were first introduced and became the East Coast distributor for these fiberglass displacement powerboats.
John went on to team up with Marine industry veterans Stephen R. Seaton and L.E. “Nick” Nicholson to form Seaton Yachts. This allowed him to delve deeper into the design, and construction of expedition style world cruisers and familiarize himself with yards that specialize in building metal boats.
For the last twenty years John has focused on the sales of new and pre-owned brokerage seagoing vessels including offshore sailboats, motoryachts and in particular expedition yachts. A veteran cruiser under both sail and power with hundreds of sea miles including ocean crossings, John’s decades of experience both on the water and in the design, development and construction of cruising boats help him understand your cruising needs. He specializes in finding the types of expedition worthy boats that are best suited to you.
